New Orleans Hornets Tickets For Basketball With A Sting
New Orleans Hornets tickets have been rising steadily in demand for the past few years. The team started out as just another expansion outfit. Today it has established itself as a strong team to be up against on the courts. The Hornets are among the top fighting teams in the NBA today and New Orleans Hornets tickets are among the hardest to get.
The New Orleans Hornets are based in New Orleans, Louisiana and play their home games from the New Orleans Arena. They are part of the National Basketball Association under the southwest division and the western conference. The team has yet to post any big title wins.
A City Made For Basketball
The Hornets were born during a 1985 drive by the NBA to include a number of expansion teams in the league. Charlotte North Carolina announced a bid and it seemed a sound enough choice- after all, apart from being home to a very loyal and large fan base, the city was also home to one of the basketball hotbeds of the country. It was growing quickly and had also hosted the ABA's Carolina Cougars. The clincher proved to be the construction of the state-of-the-art Charlotte Coliseum. The team officially joined the NBA in 1988.
The Hornets created quite a buzz even off the courts- they chose teal as one of their team colors, setting off a fashion craze among a number of other sports teams who also experimented with teal. Another feature was the unbelievably high demand for Hornets tickets. At one point the team sold out 358 consecutive games- needless to say, it was pretty hard to get your hands on Hornets tickets at that time.
Struggle And Promise
Despite high sales of tickets and a loving fan base, the team struggled through its initial years. This was to be expected of an expansion team and the Hornets became increasingly frustrated as they found they couldn't win more than two games in a row. It wasn?t until the late nineties that the Hornets found their footing and during the 1997-1998 season they made it to the second round of the playoffs. The new millennium should have been the start of the rise of the Hornets but the team found itself saddled with a number of off-court politics. The owner was becoming increasingly unpopular due to a number of changes he had made in the team. This was capped with a rape allegation that was leveled against him. Even though he was able to avoid a civil trial, it was obvious that fans were less than pleased with him and sales of Hornets tickets literally plummeted. By 2002, the team was shifted to New Orleans.
Initially the demand for New Orleans Hornets tickets was pretty sluggish but the owner was committed to the team's new home. There was mass speculation that sales of New Orleans Hornets tickets would meet the same fate as they had in Charlotte. Today however it's obvious that the team is one that is on the rise and ready for a championship win.
