Suwanee Sports Academy Announces Partnership with Top German Basketball Club
Suwanee, GA (PRWEB) July 21, 2007 -- Suwanee Sports Academy, a player development company, located in metro-Atlanta has announced a partnership with POM Baskets Jena, one of the premier basketball clubs in Germany. The partnership with the German Basketball Club is a perfect fit for the Sports Academy, whose focus on player development and teaching the fundamentals of the game are right in line with the fundamental development of European basketball players in today's game.
"We are excited to have established a great relationship with a respected basketball club in Germany and look forward to having our coaches work together as well as our players," commented Kevin Cantwell, Vice President of Basketball Development for Suwanee Sports Academy. "We are committed to bringing teaching back to the game of basketball in the United States and the set-up of the current European basketball model is great for teaching the fundamentals."
POM Baskets Jena is a basketball club that offers specialized basketball training for players at different stages of the development process with their top team playing in Germany's First Division professional league.
"Suwanee Sports Academy's basketball development staff has years of experience in teaching the game and to be able to have our coaches learn from them will be a major asset to our club," noted POM Baskets Jena Head Coach Bjorn Harmsen. "This is an opportunity to share teaching philosophies with one another and allow coaches and players to experience the cultures of both countries."
Instructors from POM Baskets Jena will spend time at Suwanee Sports Academy's metro-Atlanta headquarters learning about the Sports Academy's training philosophies and how to incorporate the ideas into the German Club program. The two organizations will also do a youth team exchange beginning in the summer of 2008 as teams from the Suwanee Sports Academy's nationally-recognized On Court Player DevelopmentĀ® program will travel to Germany to play against several German teams while POM Baskets Jena will do the same by sending select players to the United States.
"Our focus is to teach our players how to play the game of basketball the right way, something that is lost in the American basketball system right now," commented Pat Alacqua, CEO of the Suwanee Sports Academy. "This is just the beginning as we explore teaching methods together. We will also evaluate long term programming opportunities for Suwanee Sports Academy in Germany."
